Industry 4.0 Abstract

The fourth industrial revolution "Industry 4.0", introduced by the German in 2011, is characterized by automation and digitization,
collaborative robotics, 3D printing, optimization and management of assets, sharing and security of data, tracking parts from cradle to grave, data
analytics and Artificial Intelligence.

Big data is the "raw materials and oil" of Industry 4.0. It is the transformation from the physical to the digital: "The Digital Twin" and its
connectivity throughout the product life cycle. It is the transformation from the traditional silo-centric optimized business unit to a value-stream
optimized enterprise.

Industry and academia need to be positioned to address the disruptive technologies of this revolution as well as the future skills needed such as
industrial data sciences, data analytics, optimization and simulation, integration, operational and logistics research, etc.
